I hope that you enjoyed your Bank Holiday break, I spent the weekend writing my latest newsletter which will be delivered to every house in South Shields at the beginning of July.
When you first elected me as your MP, I promised that I would stay in regular contact with you - hence my decision to write two newsletters a year, hold regular street surgeries and deal with literally thousands of letters each year. I firmly believe that it is important that you hear from me on a regular basis throughout the year.
When writing my newsletter, I like to focus on the good work that is happening througout South Shields. In the next edition, I have mentioned the Whiteleas Junior Football Club, South Tyneside Homes, and Business Breakfast that I attended to name but a few.
My recent visit to the Whiteleas Junior Football was superb, there must have been ten teams playing, ranging from toddlers to under 18's. The managers, coaches and parents have proved what hard work and committment can achieve. The young people who were playing really appreciate the time and effort that others have given to them. It is an honour to be President of such an excellent community facility. I even spotted another Arsenal fan at Temple Park Junior School!!!
Local businesses in the town are very important, and I am always keen to support those who wish to expand. That is why I agreed straight away to meet business community leaders over breakfast at the Customs House a couple of weeks ago. The meeting gave us the opportunity to discuss what is going right, and of course, what could be done better. I'm here to listen, and the comments that I heard at the business breakfast were passed onto colleages at Cabinet.
I'm proud to be your MP, and I am here to help. Constituents have stopped me when I am out and about with the family to let me know what they are thinking, which I don't mind. My job is to represent you to the very best of my ability, so if I can help you in anyway - let me know.
Together we are making our town a better place. Stay in touch. My email address is milibandd@parliament.uk or my office number is 0191 456 8910.
Keep an eye out for my newsletter which will be dropping through your door soon.
